Trip Itinerary

Day 1 : Drive to Chitwan (180 k.m distance) - 05 hours

An early morning an exciting drive, heading towards Nepal Mid-South to the low sub-tropical areas at Chitwan. An interesting overland journey through rural farm villages and towns and then reaching at Chitwan for overnight halt.

Located close by the rim of Chitwan National Park around Sauraha town, where many good lodge, hotels and resorts located.

Afternoon a short walk to catch the glimpse of Chitwan villages and towns and observe the native daily activities.

Day 2 : Free day for tour around Tharu village of great cultural interest

Morning after breakfast our guide for Chitwan Tharu village tour receives you for a short walk. Depending upon the distance of designated areas of respective Tharu village, for long distance taking an oxen-cart.

On arrival at Tharu village warmly greeted by the villagers, the indigenous tribes of the Terai region. of Nepal which includes Chitwan. Nearly 7 % of Nepal’s population are the Tharu. Genuine Tharu have settled in Chitwan for hundreds of years and call themselves the tribes of the forest. But later on lived their life as farmers growing rice, corn, lentil as well hunting for wild boar, deer, wild hare and fishing. A common feature of the Tharu community is the joint family system of living in long houses. 

Traditional Tharu religion consists of the worship of spirits, particularly of the forest. The family deity is located in the eastern corner of the house, where also sleeps the senior most family member. Besides visiting the villages enjoy the native in farming activities and can join them. It would be more interesting during the planting season of rice and in harvest time of autumn times.

Day 3 : Enjoy visiting more Tharu village and observe the local activities

Today last day in Chitwan after visiting and gaining knowledge of Tharu way of simple life. Living in the harmony of dense jungles and engaging in daily farm activities. An interesting short walk from the hotel in Sauraha town area to Bachhauli village, where first Tharu museum is located. 

Inside the museum various farm tools and kitchen utensils are exhibited, along with oxen carts, and primitive hunting weapons. Enjoy observing the arts and painting of Tharu traditional patterns, that mostly on houses of Tharu villages.

A unique tribe malaria resistant’s before it was eradicated in the early 1970’s. Due to strong immunity power of local herbs and plants, as Tharu people consume much spices foods and hot chilli. One of the reason of staying healthy and strong from the sub-tropical climatic environment and various disease.

After visiting most of Tharu villages and observing the crops in the fields of mustard, rice, lentils and vegetable. With villagers daily farm activities and soaking in Tharu culture and custom. Back to hotel after an interesting visit of Tharu villages and the museum.

Evening before dinner enjoy the Tharu folk programs of dance and singing with various form of dances. From farm and hunting activities, where visitors can enjoy taking part in the merriment.

Day 4 : Morning bid farewell to Tharu villagers and drive to Kathmandu

Start the morning early for an interesting drive to Kathmandu. The overland journey takes you on the main busy highway following the Trisuli River, as drive climbs on winding road. Then enter Kathmandu valley suburb and into the city after a long exciting drives of near 6 hours. Check into your hotels with rest of the afternoon at leisure.

People with more time can stay few days longer in Chitwan for wildlife and jungle safari or bird watching programs.
